WHAT'S IN A (NINER) NAME? Ever wonder what MCR stands for? How about WFO? Or ROS? Around Niner, we don't just slap names on bikes. We take it seriously, seriously playful, but seriously nonetheless. You see, bikes are fun and we believe the names that go with them should be too. But, just because those names are playful doesn't mean they magically appeared out of thin air. When people are told there's a rainbow outside, most will go look. They'll ooooh.... They'll ahhhh.... They might take pictures or look for the magical double. (We get a lot of doubles rainbows in Colorado...) Why? A black and white world is, well, just that and most of us prefer colors. Speaking of colors, here are a few of our new favorites. The JET 9 RDO in "Be Seen" Neon Green. The AIR 9 RDO asks, "Orange You Glad You Raced Me?" The RIP 9 RDO is "Minty Fresh" with a splash of red. ONE MOUNTAIN PEAK IN ONE DAY? NOPE, WE WENT FOR THREE. (I mean, you're there. Why not summit three fourteeners?) Sometimes, you get crazy ideas sitting around the campfire, sipping and talking and sipping some more. More often than not, those crazy ideas just rattle around until they settle back down into some part of your subconscious. And then, once in a while, they turn into more than an idea. A few years back, Brad Cole, Niner's Marketing Manager, had a crazy idea. "Why don't we hike a 14er in one day, ski it and then mountain bike it?" Most of his friends thought he was crazy. Except for one. One, as it turned out, was enough. So, a few weeks back, before the crack of dawn, the two intrepid skiers and cyclists headed for the peaks. (Oh, and it wasn't just one 14er.
